Fuselage Trainer

Our engineers designed, analysed and oversaw construction of a series of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) items that enabled the joining of two C-130E fuselages to create a single C-130J. Quartek also designed and analysed the permanent trestling system on which it is supported. The combined fuselage now forms the basis of the Air Force’s primary loadmaster training simulator, located at RAAF base Richmond.

C130J Fuselage Trainer

CAE Canada, Airbus Australia Pacific

Analysis and design of steel structures (AS4100), production of manufacturing drawings, supplier management, systems design and installation

Design, analyse, draw and manufacture a set of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and permanent trestles to facilitate the production of a C130J fuselage from two C130E fuselage segments for the purpose of constructing a load master trainer/simulator. In addition, define and size installation locations for hydraulic and air conditioning systems to support operation of the simulator.

Successfully delivered design and analysis of GSE and permanent trestle system on time and within budget. Managed suppliers to deliver a manufactured GSE and trestle system to RAAF Base Richmond where the items are now in service, forming the support structure for the RAAF’s loadmaster training simulator. Achieved a customer satisfaction rating of ‘World’s Best Practice’ from Airbus Australia Pacific.
